Afghan army violates Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan, kills 5 Pakistanis

At least five Pakistanis were killed on Wednesday as Afghan forces opened fire in the border area of Balochistan.

According to sources, the Afghan forces entered Pakistani territory on three vehicles and started unprovoked fire in the border town of Qamarddin near Zhob district.

One Levies personnel and a woman and her two brothers were among those killed in the cross-border aggression whereas more than 20 people were injured.

The deceased were identified as Fateh, Zahir Khan, Muhammad Ameen, Mir Dad. The injured have been shifted to Zhob hospital.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office summoned the Afghan envoy to register its protest over the killings.

“The Afghan Charge d’ Affaires was summoned  to the Foreign Office and a strong protest was lodged over the indiscriminate firing on Wednesday by the Afghan Border Police near village Godwana, Zhob district, which resulted in the martyrdom of five innocent Pakistanis,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said that serious concern of the Government of Pakistan was conveyed to the Afghan diplomat.

“The Afghan government was asked to hold an enquiry into the incident, adhere to the border coordination and cooperation mechanisms, and prevent the recurrence of such incidents, which are detrimental to the friendly relations and undermine goodwill between the two brotherly countries,” the spokesman said in a statement.
