World Bank Mission (WBM) on development of Punjab Skills Project (PSP) had a meeting with Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) management at the TEVTA Secretariat.

WBM will identify possible areas of intervention to support vocational training being offered at TEVTA Institutes across Punjab.

TEVTA Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmad Qureshi gave a detailed presentation to WBM team. He briefed them about the present Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) system in the province and said that WBM may provide financial assistance for cluster based training centers, staff training and establishment of new institutes for improving access and quality of technical and vocational training.

The five member mission led by Senior Education Specialist Scherezad Joya Monami Latif included Senior Gender Specialist Muqaddisa Mehreen, Operations Analyst Ayesha Khan, consultant Patricia Tibbetts and consultant Usman Khan.

WBM head explained that industry-academia linkage, teachers training and placement of pass-outs are also important areas to consider for finalising the projects.

The mission will also visit TEVTA institutes in Gujranwala and Sialkot and discussions will continue till September 24.
