The National Assembly’s session will be held on September 16 (Monday), during which important legislation regarding the local body polls and appointment of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman is likely to be discussed.
Sources said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would raise the issue of alleged victimisation during the on-going targeted operation in Karachi.
During this first day of the session, the newly elected members would also take oath. The Pakistan People’s Party and the Awami National Party would also start a debate on the recent hike in petroleum prices. On the other hand, the PPP will also raise the appointment of NAB chairman.
The National Assembly would also debate on the legislation regarding the local body polls in cantonments.
A source in the National Assembly Secretariat said alongside NA session another important development in parliament was the appointment of heads of 29 standing committee.
Alongside this session, 34 NA standing committees would also start functioning, as their sessions were not summoned earlier because of delay in selection of their chairmen.
