A decision has been taken to re-activate peace committees in the urban areas and Thekri Pehra System in the rural areas of Rawalpindi to curb growing crimes. The decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Rawalpindi CPO. The CPO issued orders for introducing “Thekri Pehra System in the areas under the jurisdiction of rural police stations and re-activating peace committees in the areas falling in the jurisdiction of urban police stations. He also directed police officers deployed for day and night patrolling duty to undertake surprise visit of the concerned police stations and check posts to ensure that no illegal activity is taking place therein.
