PIAF-Founders Alliance won one seat reserved for women unopposed in the LCCI elections.
No other candidate filed her nomination against the Alliance’s candidate. With this unopposed victory, the strength of the Alliance reached 17 in the 32-member House while the elections for the remaining seats would be held on September 23 and 24 as per schedule.
According to Alliance’s election office, the last date for filing the nomination papers was September 4 and by that time only the Alliance Candidate Tahira Munir had filed her papers, therefore, she would be considered the winner.
Meanwhile, Lahore Township Industrial Area Association Chairman Nasrullah Mughal on Thursday called on Alliance Chairman Mian Anjum Nisar and extended an invitation for reception to the Alliance in the industrial area.
Earlier, a large number of representatives of various city markets and trade associations called on Alliance leaders including Mian Anjum Nisar, Mian Muhammad Ashraf, Iftikhar Ali Malik and Malik Tahir Javaid and assured them of their full support during the upcoming LCCI elections. Moreover, Nisar called a meeting of the planning wing of the Alliance to evolve its future election strategy.
