Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday reiterated the party’s commitment to making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa an ideal province in terms of better governance and provision of services to the people.
Addressing the audience at the inaugural ceremony of the KP government’s Free Emergency Treatment Service at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, Khan said, “Our legislative packages being promulgated by the provincial legislature for the citizens’ right to information, anti-corruption regime, and system of effective local governments are exemplary that will establish a concrete foundation for the real change in the province.”
The PTI chairman said, “I dream for the provision of free and effective healthcare to the masses all over the country, and especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, just like it is being provided at ShaukatKhanumMemorialTrustHospital.”
“Quite like other provincial departments, we have devised a comprehensive policy package for all healthcare institutions to reform their functions so that better facilities can be ensured for the people of KP,” he said.
Khan said more autonomy to the administration would help the provincial government improve the quality of services in public hospitals.
He also announced that emergency treatment at the hospital would be effective and free of cost and would be extended to other parts of the province too.
Khan also quoted comprehensive features of the PTI’s revolutionary agenda in the provinces.
The PTI chairman categorically said his party was committed to eradicating corruption and corrupt practices from the province for which “we will leave no stone unturned”.
“Establishment of a sovereign and powerful a accountability cell under an effective legislative package hails at the top of our agenda in the province through which we will ensure transparence and clean governance,” he said, adding, “Our accountability system will be very effective and will leave no room for corrupt elements within the governing system.”
“The landmark Right to Information Bill will supplement our efforts for transparency in the province and will enable citizens to hold their representatives accountable,” he said.
Khan said close circuit cameras (CCTV) will be installed at all police stations in the province to keep a check on the police.
Khan praised the efforts made by the KP chief minister and the cabinet members of discouraging protocols despite serious threats to their lives.
Acknowledging their efforts for better governance and provision of services to the people, the PTI chief stated he have not received any complaints of corruption against any of his party’s ministers.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and provincial Health Minister Shaukat Yousufzai also spoke on the occasion.
During his day-long visit to the provincial capital, the PTI chairman examined the performance of the provincial government. During meetings with the provincial administration, Khan was appraised that Rs 1 billion had been released for the Free Emergency Treatment Services in the province.
He was also briefed about the government’s plan of reviving the tourism infrastructure in various areas of the province especially Swat, Kaghan, Galyaat and Chitral.
Khan also advised the government to provide sports facilities to the youth of the province.
The chief minister briefed Khan in detail about setting up new cities equipped with modern facilities in various parts of the province.
Expressing satisfaction over eth provincial government’s proposals, the PTI chairman said these proposals would invite more investments in the province.
