The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Punjab government for today (Thursday) on applications to stay the collection of luxury tax on houses measuring 2 kanal and above.
However, the court adjourned the petitions challenging the imposition of luxury tax till second week of September. Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh was hearing the petitions filed by various petitioners. Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel arguing before the court submitted that the government could not impose luxury tax because it would be a violation of constitution.
He pleaded the court to set aside the imposition of luxury tax and stay its collection till final decision of the case. The court adjourned petitions till second week of September and issued notice to the government on stay applications.
