Deferment motions starts by joined Opposition against POL prices: Senate

PakistanTehrik-e-Insaf, Pakistan People’s Party and Jamaat-e-Islami have moved adjournment motions in National Assembly and Senate to discuss the urgent public importance issue of increase in petroleum prices in the country, reported by SANA.

On the other hand, the opposition parties in both houses of the Parliament have decided to give tough time to the government.

The opposition has moved requisition for the session of the Senate; meanwhile session of National Assembly is scheduled on September 16 and Senate session is expected in the mid of the current month.

Pakistan Peoples Party’s senators including Senator Raza Rabbani, Senator Saeeda Iqba, Senator Saeed Ghani, Senator Maula Bakhash Chandio and Senator Sughra Imam moved adjournment motion in upper house.

Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf moved adjournment motion in National Assembly stating that the nation was concerned about heavy tax recovery through petroleum products, adding that government had left behind the countries of region.

The adjournment motion has been moved by the PTI members Amir Zaman and Rai Hassan Nawaz, stating that the government instead of improving the tax system adopted the system of former government.

 

Move says that it is reality that government imposes tax twice on petroleum products, adding that OGRA recommends for de-regulation of the petroleum products. It is the matter of the national interest, so it should be thoroughly discussed in the lower house, adjournment motion says.

The members of Jamat-e-Islami also moved adjournment motion in National Assembly.

On other hand the opposition parties in both houses of the Parliament have decided to give tough time to the government.

The sources in parties have confirmed that opposition would stage strong protest in the parliament against the price hiking of the petroleum products. It is expected that the acting Chairman Senate Sabir Ali Baloch would summon the senate session with in course of day.
