KARACHI – The computer training centre (CTC) in the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) would soon be equipped with the latest technology and infrastructure, a pres release issued on Sunday quoted Karachi District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Hussain Syed as saying.
Addressing a certificate distribution ceremony held recently at the CTC of the Information Technology Department (IT), the DCO said that CDGK employees would be provided with even better computer and IT training facilities in the future.
The programme was also attended by IT Executive District Officer (EDO) Mushtaq Hussain Rizvi, Training District Officer Muhammad Fakhruddin and other officers of the IT Department. Earlier, the Karachi DCO and IT EDO gave away training certificates to CDGK employees who had participated in the 39th Office Automation Course and the 3rd Web Development Course.
The concluding ceremony of these courses was also the inauguration ceremony of the 40th Office Automation and the 4th Web Development Course at the CTC of the IT Department. The DCO also conferred the best performance award to Media Management Deputy Director Iqbal Aziz for excellent performance in the Web Development Course, whereas the Punctuality Award was conferred to Samina of the Education Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the DCO said that government employees should regularly take part in the training courses that would not only help improve their performance, but also provide them the opportunity for keeping them updated about modern computer technology.
He hoped that the participants of these courses would use their expertise in routine office works and, in this way, the standard of public service works in the city government would improve. The EDO said that the training programme was aimed at creating a trained workforce in the IT field that has now been recognised as the most important field of the modern age.
He said that training holds much importance and is, in fact, the backbone of any organisation. “Unfortunately, we don’t give importance to training programmes and only focus on amassing certificates that are of no use if you haven’t learnt something,” he added.
The EDO also said that this is a great opportunity for the city government employees who cannot afford to enrol in these expensive courses at other training centres. He urged that the participants to take advantage of this course and try to learn more about the latest happenings in the IT field.
He also appreciated the performance of the officers and staff of the CTC of the IT Department and said that the training programme for CDGK employees would continue in the future.
