Day 3: CDGL clears 48-km of encroachments

LAHORE – The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) cleared 48-kilometre of land on Sunday from encroachments including 682 roadside stalls, 28 shops, 254 sheds, 156 stairs, 268 signboards and the material was shifted to warehouses on 24 government trucks. Land worth around Rs 10 million has been retrieved during the grand operation against encroachments under the supervision of Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Ahad Cheema in Baghbanpura.
Around 4.5-kilometre area including 125 roadside stalls, 310 shops, 25 sheds, four stairs and five signboards were removed in Wagah Town. Around 4-kilometre area was cleared in Shalimar Town including 80 roadside stalls, 40 sheds, 30 signboards and 10 stairs. Around five-kilometre area was cleared in Allama Iqbal Town including 38 roadside stalls, five shops, 12 sheds, four stairs, 11 signboards and four trucks loads of material. In Data Ganj Buksh Town, 47 roadside stalls, 90 shops and nine trucks loads of material were confiscated in Nishtar town.
Around one-kilometre area, eight shops, 25 sheds, 78 stairs, 139 signboards were cleared in Ravi Town while 2.5-kilometre area, 11 roadside stalls, one shop, six sheds, three stairs and four signboards were pulled down in Samnabad Town. Six-kilometre area, 30 roadside stalls, 50 sheds, 52 shops, 49 stairs, 40 signboards and three trucks loads of material were confiscated in Gulberg Town. On Peco Road, five roadside stalls, eight sheds, seven stairs and 39 signboards were pulled down during the operation.
