The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is badly affected by mismanagement due to which there is no order to the schedule of national and international flights.
According to PIA officials, incompetence of the operations branch caused the flights to delay on Monday. Sources said PK-268 which was scheduled to go to Kathmandu from Karachi was deferred for several hours and flight PK-269 which had to arrive from Kathmandu was also deferred for several hours.
Two flights, PK-607 and PK-451 from Islamabad to Gilgit and Skardu respectively had been cancelled. Flight PK-272 from Karachi to Delhi was postponed for more than four hours and flight PK-853 from Tokyo to Islamabad was also deferred for more than four hours.
Meanwhile, a PIA plane was stopped before take off at Abu Dhabi airport on Monday due to leakage in the fuel tank.
According to the authorities at the Abu Dhabi airport, Islamabad-bound PIA flight PK 220 was ready to take off when its fuel tank started to leak, adding that all passengers were offloaded from the flight and sent back to the hotel.
The authorities said alternative flights would be arranged for the passengers soon.
