Following threats of attack on the city’s central jail by the militants, a bypass one-way road near the prison was blocked on Friday. Police officials said the road will remain closed with heavy police presence for 15 to 20 days.
According to Sukkur City ASP, Central Jail-1 was faced with assault threat, and therefore the nearby half-kilometer patch of one-way road was closed with assistance from police and Rangers personnel deployed there.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jails Ashraf Khan and ASP City Masud Bangash averred the report that the road would close for 15 to 20 days. It should be mentioned here that two high profile prisoners Ataullah alias Qasim and Muhammed Azam would be hanged in the jail on August 20th and 21st respectively.
