Ten people were killed and 24 others sustained injuries in two different road accidents on Thursday. The condition of 10 of the injured is said to be critical.
According to police reports, a coaster of Royal Express Company, bearing number JB-2668, was going to Faisalabad from Sadiqabad when it collided head-on with a truck,TDL-614, near Jahaniyan by-pass road.
Resultantly, six passengers died on the spot.
Police and rescue personnel reached the spot and retrieved the dead bodies by cutting the body of the coaster.
The wounded passengers were shifted to District Hospital Khanewal and Nishtar Hospital Multan.
Hospital sources said the faces of the dead passengers were mutilated and they could not be identified.
The names of 15 wounded who were brought to the hospital are Mazhar, Muhammad Azam, Farah, Habibur Rehman, Ahmed Khubaid, Naila, Asad Muneer, Uzma Naeem, Mihammad Naeem, Muhammad Shahbaz, Muhammad Saeed and Faisal.
Police said the accident occurred at 3 am when the coaster’s driver dozed off. Both drivers fled the scene, they said.
In another incident, a passenger van collided with a car near Chiniot. As a result, four passengers died and 9 sustained injuries.
The dead and injured were shifted to ChiniotDistrictHeadquartersHospital.
