Peace between India and Pakistan is the only way forward towards a stable region, while hawks on both sides should not be allowed to wage war, participants from both the countries expressed these views at a seminar held by SAFMA at a local hotel on Tuesday where civil society activists, renowned lawyers, journalists and a delegation from the Indian side also participated.
During his inaugural speech, SAFMA General Secretary Imtiaz Alam said, “Whenever the boat of peace starts floating, a hidden hand subverts the process. There has been cease fire at the line of control since 2002 and the question to probe is who is behind such a sudden shift. Probably, Al Qaeda and terrorist organisations want to divert attention from Afghanistan and shift to India.”
Indian journalist Chanchal Manohar said, “There is a lot of tension in India regarding the killing of soldiers and due to which the delegates have been reduced from the expected 45 to the current 12. The current jingoism on the Indian side especially by the Indian media has put stark facts on the back burner. Mischievous population on both sides are befooling their people and preparing them for war.”
Renowned TV anchor Najam Sethi said that South Asia has never been possible without violence and will never be possible in the future as well. He further said, “The Indo Pak relations have been a roller coaster ride. The actual bone of contention is who is going to lead the Afghan region after the US withdrawal or reduction in forces. Both Pakistan and India are going to fight proxy wars in Afghanistan and its fallout is going to hurt both countries starting from Kashmir and them getting inwards.”
Others who spoke included former diplomat Khaled Mehmood, IA Rehman, TV anchor Nusrat Javaid and Indian peace activist Jasdeep Singh Malhotra.

  1. I do not know why is so much hatred in the world. Let everyone lives his life and does not interfere with it as the second man alive, ethnic group or nation.

  2. A State which initiated the war or use of the armed forces (as currently Russia) should be pacified by the rest of the world. In the age of twenty-first century there is no place for violence !!!
