Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry has taken suo motu action of law and order situation in Balochistan.
He took the notice of recent terrorism in the province which caused death of several innocent citizens as well as top security officials.
Justice Chaudhry has summoned the attorney general of Pakistan (AGP), the advocate general of Balochistan and other officials concerned to appear before a bench in the Supreme Court registry branch in Quetta on August 15.
Chaudhry also ordered to hear related cases, including petition no 2010/77 which were registered for peace in the city.
The notice was taken after as many as 60 people lost their lives in separate terrorist incidents in less than a week.
On August 6, fourteen people, including top security officials and passengers, were killed when terrorists attacked two Punjab-bound buses in Mach area of Bolan District.
At least 40 people, including top police officials, were killed and 60 others injured on Thursday when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the Police Lines, causing one of the worst tragedies for the Balochistan police force.
Similarly, at least 10 people were killed and many others injured on Friday in an attack that targeted Eid prayers at a mosque near Quetta’s eastern bypass.
Moreover, at least six suspected terrorists were killed on Sunday during an operation in Mach. Another two were killed during an attack on a FC check post in Quetta’s Ispilanji area.
