LAHORE – The second game of the Pakistan Rugby Union Super XV league is being hosted by the Islamabad Rugby Association on Sunday at the F10 Rugby ground. The match has been declared a charity match. IRA has teamed up with Shamsher Ali Khan Trust and all the funds raised from the match will be used for the treatment of hepatitis patients.
The match will be played in a festive atmosphere with live DJ music and BBQ. Captain of national team Shair Aslam, one of the main organisers, said: “I am happy to see the response they have received from the youth of Islamabad, who have already started buying tickets and will be there in numbers to support the two teams as well as a worthy cause. I hope to see a packed stadium on Sunday and welcome all to watch a thrilling match.”
He added: “This is not the first time the rugby community has raised funds for a noble cause. Pakistan Rugby Union and especially senior players from Islamabad Jins and Lahore Rams were very active in raising funds for the earthquake victims in 2005 and also for those affected by the recent floods.”
