Enforcement Directorate of the Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) on Friday launched an operation against encroachments and removed illegal constructions and huts built along different sections of Nullah Leh to avoid any untoward incident during the current monsoon season.
The RTMA spokesman said the anti-encroachment drive has been intensified.”A full scale operation against encroachments against illegal constructions, slums and huts built all along the Nullah Leh is in underway,” he added.
RTMA demolished 25 illegal constructions along Nullah Leh adjoining Khayaban-e-Sir Syed and Javed Colony and removed dozens of huts from its banks near New Katarian Pul and Ratta Amral areas.
Meanwhile, Town Administrator Muhammad Ali Randhawa said a control room would remain operational at the Rawal Town Office round-the-clock to monitor Nullah Leh’s situation.
2 DIE IN HOUSE COLLAPSE: Two bothers died and their mother and sister received serious injuries as a mud house located besides a nullah collapsed due to heavy raina in Sector E-11/1 of the federal capital on Friday.
According to the neighbours, the house belonging to Fazal Kareem, who works at a make shift restaurant, collapsed at about 11:30 am due to heavy rain. As a result, his two sons namely six-month-old Fazal Rehman and Shahzad Kareem (10) lost their lives while his wife and daughter were injured.
The injured were immediately shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment.
