Following the deadly attack on Dera Ismail Khan prison that left six police personnel dead and dozens of terrorists free, intelligence agencies have warned that the federal capital could be the next target of terrorists.

Quoting security officials, media reports on Wednesday said Islamabad’s international airport, farmhouse of former military dictator Pervez Musharraf and Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi could be targets of attacks.

Security arrangements have been tightened in order to avert any act of terrorism at BenazirBhuttoInternationalAirport in Islamabad.

Police patrolling has been increased within the premises of the airport while special commandoes have also been deployed for rapid action in case of any mishap.

The intelligence report said the farmhouse of former president and army chief Pervez Musharraf in Chak Shahzad could also be a target of terrorists.

The security of Musharraf’s farmhouse has also been tightened.

The main prison in Rawalpindi, Adiala Jail, is also a reported target of terrorists where high profile members of TTP are detained.

Intelligence report feared that DI Khan and Bannu-like attacks on Adiala Jail could be carried out.

The report said terrorists had been freely using mobile phone in connivance with jail staff, which was facilitating criminals in return for alleged financial benefits.

“A warden’s mobile has been detected using 250 SIMs,” the report cited a probe.

The intelligence report recommended redirecting mobile phone signal towers so that signals could not spread over jail.

The Punjab government has deputed elite commandoes in all jails across the province following threats of attacks from terrorists.
