Bangles are a woman’s best friend

Visitors, especially women can be seen thronging bazaars and makeshift stalls to buy ready made dresses, bangles and jewellery as the Eid draws near.

Beautifully decorated small mohalla shops are also flooded with women shopping their heart buying colourful bangles including Blue Area, Melody, Karachi Company, Aabpara Market, F-10 Markaz, F-11 Markaz, G-10 Markaz, G-11 Markaz, Supermarket, Jinnah Supermarket, and I-10 Markaz.

The shopkeepers expect the sale will go further up a week before Eid, especially during chand raat when. Sami, a stallholder at Aabpara said that a variety of bangles are available in prices ranging from Rs 100 per dozen to RS 1,100 depending on the quality and style.

Hiba, a student of COMSATS said, “Eid shopping is incomplete without buying bangles and applying mehndi.” Sana, a student of Fatima Jinnah University said that handmade bangles have become popular but are costly compared steel bangles which last longer.

According to a stall holder at Karachi Company rubber bangles along with Indian artificial gold bangles is in great demand this year.

Due to increase in bangle sales the prices have also escalated.
