A divisional bench of the Supreme Court on Monday ordered the federal government to decide the matter of the appointment of the National College of Arts (NCA)’s permanent Principal within 15days.
The bench comprising Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar passed the orders on a petition filed by Dr Murtaza Jafari while hearing the matter at Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry.
A law officer earlier informed the bench that the cabinet division selection committee had interviewed five candidates for the post on July 25. He said that the committee would finalise its report within a week and it would be sent to the cabinet.
After hearing the law officer’s statement, the bench disposed off the matter. However, the bench allowed the petitioner to approach court if court’s orders were not followed.
