Dinosaur statues installed for recreational purposes at Ankara Park were removed in May 2010 by the Capital Development Authority and not been installed back.

Situated at near Rawal Lake, the park is built on an area of 33 acres and was named ‘Ankara Park’ as a symbol of friendship between Pakistan and Turkey.

Visitor Muhammad Anees while talking to Pakistan Today said that the statues were a great source of amusement for children, “They are now less keen to come to the park,” he added.

Many families throng the park for enjoying the beautiful landscape and picnicking, especially during summers. However, the number of visitors has decreased after removing the statues from the park which used to attract a large number of visitors every month.

The CDA spokesperson Naeem Rauf said that dinosaurs were removed for safety measures but upon popular demand of the public will be reinstalled in a month. He informed that dinosaur statues would also be installed at Marghazar Zoo to attract visitors.
