The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Agency (PTA) unearthed nine illegal gateway exchanges and seized 997 active SIM cards during a raid in Sargodha.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, FIA Deputy Director Samiur Rehman Khan Jami said the accused were operating the gateway exchanges at a house in Sargodha. Furthermore, he said that the accused opened fire on the raiding team, injuring one forensic officer Waqar Javed, before managing to escape.

Jami said the FIA had registered an FIR against the accused, adding that a forensic report would reveal the duration of the illegal gateway exchanges.

  1. AOA,
This not the first time that it had happened but such type of illegal gateway exchanges were unearthed in the past in Sargodha, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and other cities of Pakistan. Its a big big loss to the country and its a shameless act which the mischievous people are doing with the consent/help of telecommunication authority people or under the umbrella of FIA or Police. The other and important point to note is that such people are caught, such news are brought in the press but there is no severe action against such people otherwise no body can dare to do so. Thanks. M A. Raja from Jeddah.
