KARACHI – The All Pakistan CNG Association has threatened to call a countrywide strike against the government’s latest decision to continue with two-day-a-week CNG load shedding. Setting aside the announcement made by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani that said the ongoing gas load shedding in the country would end by March 15, the Petroleum Ministry has extended load shedding schedule up until June, APCNGA Chairman Ghias Abdullah Paracha said in a statement.
He said CNG station would be closed in protest and a countrywide protest would be called by the association in collaboration with transporters and petrol pump owners. He said the decision made by the ministry on Friday was unexpected and against the interest of CNG station owners and consumers. Paracha said that as a first step, the strikes would start from Punjab and if their demands were not met, the protests would be extended to the rest of the country.
