Raiwind city police gunned down one robber and arrested another in a shootout in Raiwind on Saturday.
The two robbers were escaping after looting a general store around iftar time when the police received information and subsequently chased the robbers. The robbers spotted the police and opened fire. The police personnel returned fire, injuring one robber and arresting the other.
The police shifted the injured robber to Jinnah Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. He was later identified as Ilyas, a resident of Lower Mall while his accomplice was identified as Amir, a resident of Bhaati Gate.
Moreover, the police also recovered the looted valuables, including thousands of rupees in cash, mobile phones and weapons from their possession.
The police shifted the dead body to a morgue for post-mortem
