Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday named Saeed Mandokhel as the party’s candidate for the presidential elections.
Mandokhel is a senator from Balochistan, validating the trend that most parties were favouring presidential candidates from smaller provinces.
It was likely that the PML -Q would reach an understanding with other parliamentary stakeholders in the upcoming presidential elections. Joining hands with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the final stage was also a possibility.
Sources in the party said the chances of supporting the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Raza Rabbani were quite dim given his track record against the PML-Q leadership.
