Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has decided to take action against mafia involved in water theft.
According to details, a mafia in Sohan Village steals water from the WASA’s network and sells it illegally.
WASA Managing Director (MD) Akram Soban said that water is being supplied to Sohan village through a pipeline from Farooq Azam Road from 27 tube wells, under a water scheme which was completed in 2010. “The water distribution network in the area costs Rs 60 million but some residents of the area are selling water by disconnecting the pipeline illegally,” he added.
The MD announced that an operation will be conducted against the culprits along with the help of police and district administration.
