The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Thursday praised the government’s move to launch a crackdown against power and gas thieves.

Meaningful action against pilferers was the only way to reduce the 250 billion rupee losses incurred by the national exchequer, it said.

“This grand operation would convey a strong message to the dishonest elements within society to stop their immoral activities. This would help resolve the energy crisis and also provide a level playing field to all stakeholders,” APCNGA Supreme Council Chairman Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha said.

The development indicated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were completely focused on resolving the energy crisis which was very encouraging, he added.

Paracha said that curbing theft and giving exemplary punishments to the culprits would discourage such incidents in the future. It would also reduce line losses and help streamline the energy supply, he added.
