KARACHI – The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), while appreciating the conservation of electricity due to the early closure of marriage halls, has demanded similar measures to be enforced at all parks and grounds in the city. In a statement issued on Thursday, the KESC noted that the closure of marriage halls by midnight has resulted in approximately 50 megawatts of electricity saved on a daily basis. The conserved electricity, according to the KESC, can be utilized at more important public concerns, including hospitals, clinics and emergency centres, which work around the clock. The KESC also stated that a more effective implementation of the early closure decision could double the quantum saved at marriage halls.
