ISLAMABAD – Pakistan on Thursday asked India to make elaborate security arrangements for the ongoing Cricket World Cup. Commenting on news reports in the Indian media about planned terrorist attacks on the venues in India launched from Pakistani soil, Foreign Office spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua said terrorism had no borders.
“It is a vicious phenomenon that all must collectively confront,” she said in a statement, adding, “Pakistan, itself a victim of terrorism, takes all such reports seriously. We hope that India will make fool-proof arrangements for the security of Cricket World Cup.” “Separately, we have already conveyed our concerns about vituperative statements being made from within India about participation of Pakistan’s cricket team,” Janjua said. She said Pakistan looked forward to the forthcoming meeting of interior and home secretaries to also discuss counter-terrorism.
