CTO to clear roads of beggars

City Traffic Police (CTP) has arrested 141 beggars from the main roads of the federal capital, along with registration of cases against them.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Ishtiaq Hussain said that the police are making efforts to eliminate the menace of beggary from the city and 141 beggars have been arrested in the month of July. He informed that child beggars netted from the city are later handed over to Child Protection Bureau.

Moreover, two special squads comprising of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), 6 constables including one lady constable are working to arrest beggars. “The teams have been directed to send reports of arrests and registration of cases to the CTO office on daily basis,” he added.
