Despite instructions from the Chief Minister of Punjab, beggars continue to bother citizens during Ramadan across the provincial capital.

Many beggars, most of which seem able-bodied, can be seen at traffic signals and crossroads. In bazaars, buyers frequently encounter them. MAOCollege, Regal Chowk, Chauburji, Shadman, Garhi Shahu, Muslim Town Morr, Ichhra, Anarkali, Moon Market, Data Darbar, Baghbanpura, the railway station and Badami Bagh are some of their preferred spots.

When contacted, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Chaudhry Mohammed Shafiq told APP that he had strictly ordered the immediate removal of beggars from traffic signals and cross-roads. If there are any beggars on any road in the city, he said, they would be removed. “I have also directed the chief traffic officer to ensure their early removal,” he added.
