Assistant Commissioners (ACs), pertaining to different sub-divisions of the metropolis, on Sunday imposed a fine of Rs 415,900 on 231 retailers for fleecing consumers, particularly on edible items.
According to details of the exercise, made available on Monday morning by the Karachi Commissioner office, 30 shopkeepers were also jailed for repeatedly found overcharging customers.
Those challenged included 46 milk sellers, 47 fruit sellers, 61 grocers, 32 grocers and 45 shopkeepers selling poultry goods, respectively.
Moreover, the Assistant Commissioner of Gadap, on Sunday, also raided a fake mineral water plant and sealed it off immediately, while arresting two people found on the premises.
