The District Administration has imposed fine amounting to Rs30,000 on profiteers for not displaying rate list of food items and over-charging customers.
Price checking was carried out by magistrates of respective areas and violators were issued hefty fines.
Assistant Commissioner (City) Muhammad Ali, Assistant Commissioner (Rural) Maryam Mumtaz, Magistrate (Rural) Kamran Cheema and Hussain Bahadur along with other officials of the food department visited sasta bazaars of Bara Kahu, Sector G-7, Koral and Rawat. They checked quality and rates of food items and also addressed the complaints of the public visiting the bazaars.
The administration has directed all shopkeepers and stall holders to display rate list of food items and charge fixed rates. Strict action will be taken against any violators.
