Abbottabad Commission Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Tuesday termed the media reports on the issue misleading and said no one was given a clean chit in the Abbottabad Commission report.

Justice (r) Iqbal said the report had not only identified all those who were responsible for the incident but also reviewed the role of various institutions.

He said the report containing over a 100 recommendations was personally submitted to the then prime minister on January 2 and it was the duty of the government to make it public. He said the commission had also examined 7,000 documents in Arabic and also a diary.

Rubbishing the allegation about delay in the commission report over the issue of TA/DA in an interview, the commission’s chairman said Rs 50 million given to the commission had been returned to the government.

To a question, the commission chief said individuals and organisations were included among those held responsible in the report. He said there were no major differences among the members of the commission over the report however all members were free to express their opinion in their own style of writing.

He said the commission worked by remaining within it mandate.

Iqbal reiterated that the commission had already submitted its recommendations to the government and it was the privilege of the government to publish it, however he insisted that no one was given clean chit in the report.

  2. Oh yeh no one should blamed as Justice Javaid after assigning this job was moved to Bahira town 's sumptuous bungalow near to houses of many ex intelligence bosses.I m sure they all come to help him for making this hotch potch report.I am sure the Jusitce Hammod rehman would have getting shock waves after reading this report.Pakistanis should see that A Bengali judge had more sense of responsibility/courage and patriotism for presenting such reports in front of military mafia.Gen Shujah pasha should award highest military award for declaring Pakistan in simple lines like that
The DG [director-general] said the reality for Pakistan was not defined by the might of the United States. It was defined by the fact that “we are a very weak state and also a very scared state”. “We will take anything and not respond. It all boils down to corrupt and low-grade governance”.

  4. Until a civilian govt. stands upto the military establishment, Pakistan will remain a slave country. The military establishment has ran the country into ground. From 1971 to 1999 to May 2, there is nothing but humiliation, due to the incompetent generals, who are only good in doing business. The Fauji Foundation must be handed over to the Govt. Military has not business running banks and housing societies. Its sole purpose is to defend the country.

    • I believe the only time Pakistan had a surplus was during Musharraf time, the only time India and Pakistan were on the brink of solving the Kashmir issue. Can you name any civilian government who achieved anything remotely close to that????? Although I agree that Zia destroyed Pakistan but most every civilian government in the last few decades have come in and robbed the country and took it backwards.Lets look at BB,her first term was a joke, second wasn't much better, then came Nawaz Sharif, twice,we all know the rest,he keeps whining about the nuclear bombs, whoopieeeeee, every civilian government and their leaders have corruption cases against them,so please save me the sermon on the generals, pfff

  5. The Abbottabad commission findings are total hogwash. Laden was never in Abbottabad in the first place. The whole operation was meant to boost Obama’s image in his election time. Had Laden been there, the US, assisted by the local forces, would have got him alive to parade him on the TV to prove to its citizens that their tax money was being used rightly. Moreover, if Laden lived in the heart of the cantonment, Mush would have been the first person to arrest him and present him on a platter to the US. For Mush, who boasted of selling other Pakistanis to the US, Laden was a trophy not to miss. Laden, a kidney patient on dialysis had died long ago. The whole affair simply stinks.
