Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Shujaat Hussain on Friday said news item alleging that the Chaudhry family had taken a loan from the Bank of Punjab and had defaulted on it was “totally false and baseless”.
He said no member of their family or any of their business enterprises had taken any loan from the Bank of Punjab, therefore, the question of them being loan defaulters did not even arise.
He said the news item claimed the “Colony Group” belonged to the Chaudhry brothers which was also totally false.
Shujaat said he was consulting his lawyers regarding filing charges of defamation on such false and baseless allegations.
He also urged the press to refrain from publishing such false and baseless news items, because it undermined the freedom of press.
