Hyderabad Commissioner Jamal Mustafa Syed while taking a serious notice of water shortage particularly at the tail end causing economic losses to the growers directed all the deputy commissioners of the districts to pay surprise visits to the water channels/water courses of their respective areas to detect water theft and take action against the persons involved in this crime.
In his directives, issued here the other day, the commissioner also asked the DCs to ensure that all the modules of water courses were within the designed specification and water reaches the tail end.
He directed the deputy commissioners that the assistant commissioners of their respective areas should be asked to undertake this task on top priority. He directed them to submit their progress report weekly in this regard.
Meanwhile, the commissioner also visited different areas under the command of Phuleli Canal, Akram Wah and Guni Canal in the jurisdiction of Tando Muhammad Khan and Badin districts.
He held meetings with the deputy commissioners and the officers of irrigation department and directed them to ensure water supply up to tail end with immediate effect. The commissioner has also established his camp office at Badin to get the problem of growers of Badin resolved on priority basis and warned the officers of taking action against them in case of negligence.
