Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak on Friday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asking him to frame a national policy for tackling terrorism.

“Terrorism is a national issue and combating it is only possible through a policy made at the national level,” the chief minister wrote in his letter.

An official privy to the development said the letter was focused on the issue of terrorism and other long-standing issues of the province.

According to the official, the KP chief minister reminded the prime minister that the province had been badly affected by terrorism. Almost all of its buildings and infrastructure had been ruined and there was no economic activity in the province.

“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its people want peace and an end to violence,” he wrote in his letter.

Khattak said terrorism was a national issue. “The country has to face the menace as a result external and internal policies framed in the past.”

The chief minister also diverted the prime minister’s attention towards the issue of KP’s own television channel, which was pending since a long time.
