Workplace harassment must end: UNGC

The eradication of persecution and prejudice in the workplace is a precondition for an efficient and competent workplace, declared the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) on Thursday at a conference in the city.

The UNGC officials said at the summit that clearing the workplace of these evil could go a long way in promoting selections on merit and the destruction of corruption. Numerous panelists and speakers attended the event which was titled “The Framework for a Respectful Workplace”. The panelists included former Pakistan State Oil Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kalim Siddiqi, Mr. Ahsanullah Khan and Mr. Fasihul Karim, UNGC Pakistan President Mr. Nusrat Ali and renowned national trainer, Ms Shirin Naqvi among others.

The conference and panel discussion was attended by numerous academics, professionals, NGOs and by the members of the civil society.

  1. A 2011 Monster Poll indicated that 83% of Europeans, 65% of people in the Americas and 55% of workers in Asia had been subjected to physically or emotional bullying.The costs are huge. This has to stop.
