Shipping activity at Port Qasim

Four ships carrying containers and chemicals were berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal on Tuesday, Port sources said here on Wednesday. According to the sources six more ships carrying containers, cement, furnace oil, chemical and edible oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. Berth occupancy was 85% at the Port on Wednesday where a total of nine ships namely Nysted Maersk, CGM Debussy, Hanjin Malta, Vindo Nissa, Atlantic Glory, Bunga Melatidua, Stolt Helluland, Pearl Jabel Ail, and M.T Lahore are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, cement, chemical, edible oil, phosphoric acid, iron ore and furnace oil respectively. A cargo volume of 109038 tonnes comprising 71957 tonnes imports and 37081 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2458 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.
