Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Saleem on Sunday ordered officials to take action against electricity theft.
Addressing a meeting of LESCO officers at the WAPDA Auditorium, he directed the officers to make efforts in curbing power theft. He said an integrated anti electricity theft task force has been constituted in LESCO Headquarters comprising S&I, intelligence, M&T and M&S departments, while it would act in coordination with emergency task force of the Punjab government. Officers were also directed to remain in the field during rainy season for quick restoration of electricity supply.
LESCO will never tackle the problems of power theft, as thieves and big sources of stealing and thefts are inside of this department. As at every Power Station there are many corrupted staffs and even without money nothing is listened and in case of big crime of power theft in reurn ,they are getting monthlies without any hinderance and this practice is going on.There are very noble and good officers,but they are ignored.
