Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday called for formulation of a policy by the prime minister in consultation with the chief of army staff (COAS) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to curb terrorism in KP.
Addressing a party convention on Sunday, Imran Khan said there were different forms of terrorism in FATA, KP, Karachi and Balochistan and would have to be dealt with different means. He said he had written a letter to the PM for formulation of a national policy in consultation with political and military leadership to deal with terrorism. He said in KP terrorism could not be overcome until the PM, the COAS and the KP government sit together and reach a consensus formula. He said they would have to hold dialogue with the Taliban at political level.
Imran said KP would be made a role model for other provinces. He said the PTI would make the KP surplus in power generation which would be exported to other provinces. He said various projects of power generation would be announced in the coming weeks.
The PTI chief said that the local government system would also be taken to village level where people would identify projects that would be implemented by the provincial government.
Imran said no party would be able to challenge his party in future. He added that the PTI was the only party that had brought 80 percent new leadership in the elections.
Commenting on intra-party and general elections, he said, “Nations learn from mistakes.”
The PTI chief admitted that mistakes had been taken place in intra-party elections. He said real leadership would come forward after next party elections.
The PTI chairman announced to form an independent accountability cell in KP that would be free from the government influence.
He added that departments would have to pay fine as penalty over delaying citizen’s works and bonus would be awarded to those who redress problems timely.
Meanwhile, Imran will preside over the party’s parliamentary board meeting on Monday (today) to discuss tickets for by-elections.
This is the right way forward. Furthermore there has to be a working group in evaluate the success or failure of strategies to combat terrorism up-to now and explore future directions to make it substantially more effective. The members of this group should be experts in human behaviour, sociologists, intel services, armed forces and legally trained individuals.

What a shame. After years of terrorism there is talk of policy formation.First of all it is a waste of time to address these two gentlemen, secondly the first and foremost item is to restore public confidence. No information will come forth unless people know that if they help they will not be abandoned as it is done now. To be honest both have great similarities one cannot be very proud of.So Imran you will have to find someone else to address.
I wonder how you can restore public confidence when people are dying left right and centre? You need to setup a system, put law in place, make clear the distinctions. This is unfrotunately one of the drawback of democracy where, unlike dictatorship, you cant go in rambo style.
Terrorism is terrorism. Stop defending and justifying it….
i fail to understand y imran is not urging his govt in kpk to make policing better. as in spite of a bundle of " naakas" terrorist are free to roam about. no govt minister hz seen on the spot & wen ever contacted by media said rubbish lyk this is not our war blah blah blah. this is not the solution. Security policy can not b made in days. it seems the provincial govt is unable to address the menace & in the end lay whole blame on other factors for their failure. 1st do speedily wtever u can do 2 save the lives of the people as law and order is the provincial subject.
No where in the world, fire fighting works against terrorism. End of the line force cant really stop bombers as each and every single individual cant be scanned for security. There has to be cohesion between federal and provincial agencies, Pakistan need a specific purposeful force for only these type of crimes who are trained and special to handle trained terrorists, Police is not trained enough to counter fourth generation war inside Pakistan. They can succeed if they kill where the terror starts, where its funded, stop the funding and camps, expel spy diplomats, backed up with intelligence crackdown without any interference from any country or parties.
So to devise a policy and its implementation is a must!
Mr. Khan you also asking for formulating policies???? Whats new with you?
