LAHORE – Outdoor Patient Department (OPD) services continued on Wednesday on the roads outside all government hospitals as half of the deadline given by the young doctors to the Punjab Health government surpassed. OPD services continued for the third day as the young doctors provided free medical advice to the public while sitting outside their respective government hospitals.
The tug of war between doctors and health department officials is at its climax as the young doctors stand firm with their salary raise demands while the government seems carefree about the aggravating issue. OPDs inside all government hospitals were shutdown as the young doctors demanding a salary raise refused to work inside the hospitals.
The OPD camps outside Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Services Hospital, General Hospital, Children Hospital and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital remained busy. The young doctors had given a 48 hour ultimatum to Punjab government which shall end today (Thursday). The doctors had warned the government that they would stop working in Indoor Patient Department (IPDs) too if their demands would not be met.
