Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday formed a committee which will present its recommendations to the cabinet to facilitate Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s repatriation to Pakistan.
The minister has also said that a task force on missing persons should be formed next week to prepare a transparent policy in the light of the Supreme Court’s orders in this regard. He said further a list of actual number of missing persons should be prepared after consultation with security agencies and the affected families.
The minister said that hearing of mercy petitions should be restarted and all processed cases be sent to the Presidency for decision.
He said that all unauthorised staff working for retired and non-entitled police officers should immediately be withdrawn.
Similarly, the minister said that unauthorised staff working at the offices and residences of CDA officers should be sent back to their original workplaces.
He said that the ministry’s officers and its attached departments should ensure that all unauthorised staff working at their residences be sent back to their original workplaces.
The CDA chairman has been directed to initiate action against road contractors who are not meeting the targets or have exposed the traffic to hazards using substandard material.
He said that the under construction portion of Kashmir Highway near Golra toll plaza should be metalled immediately. Nisar also said that toll collection at all toll plazas in Islamabad capital territory should be successively ceased after their period of contract was over and a new system of revenue collection should be evolved to facilitate residents.
