Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Syed Munawar Hasan has said that taking care of the needy, deprived and less privileged people is a core responsibility of the Islamic welfare state, but unfortunately the government is not fulfilling its duties in this regard.
He expressed these views during a distribution-ceremony of 200 wheel chairs among the disable children in a ceremony organised by Nusrat Trust for special children at Abu-Bakr Mosque in Clifton on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the JI chief said that private sector was more involved in the welfare works as compared to government sector, adding that the Nusrat Trust had already done a lot in this regard.
Hasan hailed the performance of the chairman of the Nusrat Trust Mufti Muhammad Mohiuddin and said he would definitely get success in his welfare works as he was working for the ailing community.
The JI chief assured his full support to the chairman and said that his party stood should to shoulder with the trust and its chairman.
Hasan further said that private welfare organisations were efficiently working for the welfare and the well-being of the needy and less privileged people and providing them basic necessities including education, health and medical.
“It is an obligation of every Muslim to be a part of such welfare activities as our religion and Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) teaches us the same,” the JI chief added.
Mufti Muhammad Mohiuddin, Maulana Dr Zahid-ur-Rashidi, Prof Dr Ahsan-ul-Haq also spoke on the occasion.
JI leaders including Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, Naseem Siddiqui, Raja Arif Sultan, Zahid Askari, Abdul Wahid Shaikh and others were also present on the occasion.
