Pakistan, China move to improve display at bilateral trade events

The Pakistani and Chinese authorities are inching towards singing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate exporters of the two countries to showcase their products during major trade events. The MoU, proposed by TDAP Senior Director General Nusrat Iqbal Jamshed, would be signed between the Karachi Expo Centre and Sichuan Province Expo Centre, China. The issue was discussed and agreed upon when a nine-member Chinese delegation led by Vice Governor Sichuan Province Gan Lin visited TDAP on Friday.
“The offer (of signing MoU) was welcomed by the Chinese delegation who agreed in principle on the suggestion,” said a statement issued by the Authority Saturday.
Received by Jamshed and other officials of TDAP, Lin also formally extended an invitation to TDAP to participate in Chengdu due on October 14 in Sichuan Province. He disclosed that an official invitation would be extended to the Chief Executive of TDAP through diplomatic channel. During discussion, TDAP’s DG Jamshed highlighted Pakistan’s all-weather friendly ties with China. He said TDAP was going to participate in the said fair with 25 companies from Pakistan. The issue of delay in visas to Pakistani exporters also came under discussion with the Chinese side assuring that the procedure would be further simplified in consultation with Chinese authorities.
