Electricity shortfall has reached 4,250 MW and people in rural areas are expected to face load shedding for over 18 hours while urban areas may suffer up to 12 hours of load shedding.

A spokesman for the Power and Water Ministry said that electricity generation was 12,150MW while demand was 16,400MW, creating a shortfall of 4250MW.

Long and unannounced phases of load shedding has made lives of people miserable as prolonged outages have resulted in shortage of drinking water in several areas.
