Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has increased the working hours of tube well operators from 8 to 12 while no additional increment has been given to them.

According to details WASA, managing director issued orders to 650 tube well operators performing their duties on 323 tube wells which stated working hours to be increased by four hours and all operators should comply with the order. Failure to do so would bring relevant action against them, he said.
The four hours working increase has not come down well with the operators who complained of no pay raise, special allowance or increment against the increased work hours. WASA’s spokesman confirmed the additional hours of work and said that extra allowance was given to the workers.
