The political and military leadership has expressed its firm determination to deal with terrorism through a national consensus.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday.
Sources said the meeting that lasted for several hours reviewed the complete situation and took important decisions.
It was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
The sources said that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan gave a detailed briefing about his recent visit to Balochistan and expressed strong reservations about lack of coordination between security and intelligence institutions.
The prime minister took a serious notice of the situation and directed all civil and military institutions to ensure close coordination and sharing of intelligence.
The COAS assured the meeting that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
The meeting also discussed plans to hold an All-Parties Conference to evolve a national strategy to deal with the worsening law and order.
