LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved drafts of 17 amendment bills regarding Punjab Government Rules of Business-2011. He made these approvals in Punjab cabinet’s meeting held under his chairmanship at Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Tuesday that would be presented before the provincial assembly for final approval. The chief minister also issued instructions for setting up a cabinet committee for the strict implementation of minimum wages law in the light of the orders from Supreme Court that would submit its recommendations after considering various aspects of the matter.
The meeting also reviewed law and order situation in the province besides taking important decisions for computerisation of examination system and immediate removal of the flaws in this regard. It was decided in the meeting that instead of sitting in their offices, provincial secretaries would pay regular visits to the districts for solving people’s problems besides improving efficiency of their departments. The chief minister said the examination system had been computerised in the province first time in the country’s history for ensuring its transparency.
He added that some flaws had been detected at the initial stages of online system and immediate measures had been taken for their removal. He further said that no student’s time would be wasted due to online system and if any candidate failed to sit in the examination, a separate examination would be conducted. The army of EDOs in education and health departments had failed to bring improvement in their sectors, he said. He said in future, EDOs would be selected through search committees.
