Following orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday sent 34 deputationists back to their parent departments.
These officers worked in FIA on deputation against the gazetted posts from grade 16 and 19.
Those who were sent packing include Jamil Ahmed of grade 19, Tahir Jamil of grade 19, Amir Ali Khan grade 19, Babar Shafi and Muhazam Bhutto.
Similarly, grade 18 officers include former Islamabad additional deputy commissioner, Agha Muhammad Ali, Naveed Tarin, Zahid Bhatti, Sadat Ali Yaseen, Ghazanfar Kazmi, Mazhar Ali Shah and others.
Garde 17 officers sent back include Ahsan Lohtr, Awas Bahram Ali and others.
Earlier on June 6, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC passed the orders in response to a petition filed jointly filed by deputy director Saifullah Johio and others.
During the course of hearing, petitioners’ counsel Advocate Shah Khawar had contended that FIA, in violation of mandatory provisions of the FIA act 1974, had appointed said deputationsts against gazetted posts. The petitioner had also told the court that FIA authorities had started gradual process for the absorption of deputationists at senior level positions, resulting in the blockade of promotions of dozens of FIA officials.
He claimed that due to political influence, officers from other government, semi-government departments and autonomous bodies were requisitioned in the FIA for appointments on deputation, and were afterwards absorbed in the agency.
He had requested the court to repatriate the deputationists to their parent departments and for the re-evaluation and examine cases in order to streamline the affairs of FIA in accordance with its rules and regulations.
